The Weeping Cat
Water Lily

The Weeping Cat

The cat weeps while his mother leaves. It's nothing new for the weeping cat. Sisters and brothers leave every day. But mother always stayed. Mother cared for the deep cuts that tore him. Scars stained the cat's injured body, but mother always stayed.Until one night, the pain was too much. The cat screeched and squirmed. Shaken by the torment of her baby, mother held the cat one last time. One last time.

Water Lily

The innocence of yesterday fades away as he grows older. It disappears before his very own eyes. When he witnesses this, he tries to hold onto the smallest glimpse of happiness. The happiness that settles in a puddle of water. The water is clean and holds his innocence within. It stares at him with so much love and admiration. But it’s all part of his imagination. There is no such thing as a pond that keeps his childhood protected. If there was such a thing as this pond, in the center of the water there would be a water lily. It would settle nicely there while a frog jumps over it. This lily would stay there because it’s still blooming with the innocence of yesterday. There would be no corruption and no pain. Nothing would ever hurt the lily. If that were to happen, it would die. Even if it was surrounded by water, it would dry up.Instead, he sees that this pond doesn’t exist and never will. But he likes to imagine that it does. It lives in his head and in his head it will stay.
